Announcement :

Synthesia, a.s. has met it´s obligations resulting from the European regulation REACH and has pre-registred substances produced or imported in quantities larger than 1 tonne per year. Now we co-operate within SIEFs (international forums for exchange of information) and consortia with the aim to gather data necessary for registrations and to prepare documentation with help of IUCLID 5 (used IT tool). New challenge is a change of classification and labeling of chemical substances in accordance with new regulation known as GHS.

European regulation REACH enters the new stage – registration of substances

In the last year the European Chemical Agency started its activities as the main coordinator of REACH. All involved entities including Synthesia have pre-registered all substances intended for registration according to REACH. Synthesia has pre-registered more than 800 substances and raw materials.

Substances related to REACH can not be produced or put on the EU market without proper data; there is a need of registration. For that purpose is necessary to collect a huge amount of various data (physical-chemical, toxicological and eco-toxicological) that are not often available. To keep continuation of production of substances marketed or produced within EU before the application of REACH (so-called phase-in substances) it is possible to apply for delayed date and gain more time for completion of such data.

Depending on tonnage bands or potential danger of substances there are three deadlines for submission of registration applications – end of the year 2010, middle of 2013 and middle of 2018.

Pre-registration has finished and the main task for Synthesia in these days is to collect data and prepare documentations for registrations, especially for dangerous substances or substances of high tonnage, which are obliged to register as first. We are active in forums for information exchange (SIEFs).

We are confident that registrations according to REACH will be successful in Synthesia, a.s. too.

What is REACH?

The European REACH regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Autorization and Restriction of Chemicals came into force on June 1, 2007. The European Union engaged to ensure that chemicals are produced and used in ways that lead to the minimisation of signifi cant adverse effects on human health and the environment by 2018. This REACH regulations lays down specific duties and obligations on manufacturers, importers and downstream users of substances on their own, in preparations and in articles.

All substances have been pre-registered on time and at present we participate on preparation of joint registration. We will inform you about the important steps in the course the registration of our products in time.

We can do it professionally

Synthesia is 100% owner of VUOS, a.s. – an accredited R & D institution. One department of VUOS, the Centre for Ecology, Toxicology and Analytics (CETA) is approved for ecological, toxicological and analytical testing of chemicals and other chemicals substances (pesticides, biocides, pharma etc.). This department performs practically all necessary experimental works and co-operates in other (expert, administrative etc.) works connected with the REACH regulation.
